Community Mural Bus and Walking Tours
We can set up bus and walking tours on mural topics for groups of any type, including academic courses. Tours are led by a Groundswell artist or senior staff member who is knowledgeable in the history of mural-making and New York City murals, as well as the technical and legal processes for creating murals. The tours focus on our own projects, and often include other works of interest along the route, including graffiti and memorial murals.
For bus tours, Groundswell has a relationship with tour companies in New York if you need to arrange transportation, or we can ride on your bus. You should allot a minimum of 2 1/2 to 3 hours to see several murals, allowing for transit between the sites. Bus tours can focus on specific themes or topics. We also have an all-day itinerary that encompasses murals in the Bronx, Harlem, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Walking tours generally focus on a group of murals near our offices in Gowanus, Brooklyn, but we can also mount tours in other neighborhoods where we have worked extensively.
Tour costs vary by the size of the group and length of the tour.
